Press statement from the EFCC Justice Mohammed Yinusa of the Federal High Court, Lagos today July 8, 2015 convicted four companies associated with former governor of Enugu State, Chimaroke Nnamani and ordered that their properties be forfeited to the Federal Government.  The four companies are Rainbownet Nigeria Limited, Cosmos FM, Capital City Automobile Nigeria Limited and Renaissance University Teaching Hospital The companies had on May 19, 2015 pleaded guilty to a 10-count amended charge brought against them by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. The companies are alleged to have failed to comply with lawful inquiry made by the Commission. At today’s sitting, counsel to the EFCC Kelvin Uzozie prayed  the court to make an order of final forfeiture of the companies based on their plea. Justice Yinusa after reviewing the facts convicted the companies and made an order of final forfeiture of their assets to the Federal Government, citing provision of the EFCC

Tyga and his lawyers are gunning for the people they say released pics of his exposed penis -- and the wild part is ... there's a Caitlyn Jenner connection to this whole story. Tyga's lawyer, Lee Hutton, tells TMZ he believes the rapper is the victim of a conspiracy designed to "maliciously shame" him. While the photos are authentic -- you can see some of his tattoos -- Tyga's lawyer believes the person he sent them to betrayed him ... and used them to manufacture a fake story. The blog that posted the pics is claiming Tyga sent them to a transgender model. Hutton thinks that's also offensive because ... "The allegations are false and socially irresponsible during a time when many Americans are celebrating equality." The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Tuesday, arrested immediate past Jigawa Governor, Sule Lamido along with his two sons over graft allegations. Vanguard learnt that the former governor and his two sons- Aminu and Mustapha-were picked up in Abuja on Tuesday and taken to Kano where they are expected to be arraigned today before the Federal High Court there. A source in EFCC said that the governor and his sons would be charged with a-24-count charge bordering on money laundering and related offences. The commission claims Lamido used his sons to transfer state funds into companies in which they had interest and also received kickback to the tune of N1.3 billion from a local road building company, but did not say the job was not done. EFCC spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, confirmed the arrested and movement of the Lamido and sons to Kano but did not why they were moved to Kano and not Jigawa where the alleged offence took place. A female suicide bomber today killed four people at a military checkpoint in a community in Borno State, a security source who is a leader of the civilian joint task force told SaharaReporters.  The source disclosed that the bomber alighted from a vehicle at a military checkpoint in the Sabon Gari area of Damboa, a town in Damboa local government area of Borno State, and then detonated her bomb, killing herself as well as four other people. Scores of people sustained varying degrees of injuries. Our source stated that two of the dead were members of the civilian joint task force that helps to provide security in the terror-plagued northeast zone of Nigeria.  “At about 10:30 this morning, a female bomber wrapped up with explosive devices exploded herself at a checkpoint killing four people, including two members of civilian JTF,” the source said.  The location of today’s bombing is in the southern part of Borno State, about 90 miles away from Maiduguri, the state capital. Turkish Islamist group has pinned posters to walls and posts in the capital Ankara threatening gays with death, adding to concerns over growing intolerance against homosexuals in the country, an AFP correspondent said Tuesday.  The appearance of the posters in Ankara comes just over a week after Turkish police prevented Istanbul’s annual gay pride march — a successful tradition in the last years — from going ahead and used water cannon against activists who showed defiance. “Should those who practice the foul labour and adhere to the practice of the people of Lot be killed?” said the posters that appeared in the Turkish capital overnight. The Kano State Hisbah Board said it arrested 52 youths for taking alcohol at Roxy Amusement Park in Kano metropolis. The Public Relations Officer of the board, Malam Mohammed, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kano on Tuesday that the culprits were apprehended in the night on Sunday. He said that the culprits were 36 young men and 16 women, saying that they were arrested during a special patrol by the officials of the board following a tip-off. Mohammed said that the board will sustain its raids on all suspected ‘dark spots,’ especially during the sacred month of Ramadan. Source: Guardian 

Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu yesterday boasted that no amount of intimidation or harassment from any quarter would deter him from carrying out his constitutional responsibilities. Ekweremadu said this against the backdrop of a police investigation into alleged forgery of Senate Rules used for conducting the election of principal officers of the upper house of the National Assembly on Tuesday, June 9. On Sunday, Inspector General of Police, Mr. Solomon Arase, reportedly summoned the Deputy Senate President over the alleged forgery based on a petition credited to  Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi (Kaduna State). Police investigators raided the home of Subway sandwich pitchman Jared Fogle on Tuesday and reportedly served search warrants in connection to a child porn probe. FBI agents and state police arrived at Fogle’s home in the Indianapolis suburb of Zionsville at 6:30 a.m. as part of an on-going kiddie porn investigation,  CBS affiliate WTTV reported . The police action comes two months after the executive director of Fogle’s Jared Foundation was arrested in Indianapolis on federal child porn charges. Fogle, 37, is one of the ad world’s most well-known pitchmen after he dropped 235 pounds in his 20s, thanks in part to a diet of low-calorie Subway sandwiches and exercise. Fogle has said his foundation has cut all ties from former executive director Russell Taylor following his arrest earlier this year for allegedly being in possession of 500 videos and images of child porn. Bill Cosby ‘s admission that he  obtained Quaaludes to give young women  he was pursuing for sex could bolster  defamation claims lodged by his accusers , the women’s lawyers said after The Associated Press reported on newly released court documents. Cosby in sworn testimony unsealed Monday admitted that he gave the now-banned sedative to at least one of his accusers and to unnamed others. His lawyer interfered before he could answer deposition questions in 2005 about how many women were given drugs and whether they knew about it. “If today’s report is true, Mr. Cosby admitted under oath 10 years ago sedating women for sexual purposes,” said Lisa Bloom,  attorney for model Janice Dickinson , who contends she was drugged and raped. “Given that, how dare he publicly vilify Ms. Dickinson and accuse her of lying when she tells a very similar story?” The AP had gone to court to compel the release of a deposition in a sexual abuse lawsuit filed by former Temple University employee

Jerry Weintraub, the dynamic producer and manager who pushed the career of John Denver and produced such hit movies as "Nashville" and "Ocean's Eleven," has died. He was 77. Representatives for Weintraub said he died Monday of cardiac arrest in Santa Barbara, California. Weintraub rose from talent agency mail room employee to top concert promoter — working with the likes of Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra — and shaping Denver's career before tackling the movie business starting in the 1970s. His attempt to found his own studio, Weintraub Entertainment Group, ended in bankruptcy. But his success as an independent producer spanned decades, from "Karate Kid" to 2013's Emmy-winning Liberace drama "Behind the Candelabra," a film he took to HBO after all the studios passed. The Police Force Headquarters in Abuja, yesterday, denied reports that it  summoned Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, for interrogation over alleged forgery of the Senate Rules on election of its principal officers. It however, said it wrote a letter to the clerk of the National Assembly, to facilitate a meeting between police investigation team and some principal officers of the federal legislature for the purposes of addressing allegations of unlawful substitution of the rules for their election. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), had on Sunday, raised the alarm that the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Solomon Arase, summoned Ekweremadu to appear before a team of investigators at the Force Headquarters in Abuja yesterday. There was pandemonium in Osogbo Tuesday morning when people suspected to be thugs disrupted a protest organised by a group of Civil Societies Coalition for the Emancipation of Osun to rally support for Justice Folahanmi Oloyede, a serving judge of the state high court who petitioned the state house of assembly to investigate governor Rauf Aregbesola for alleged mismanagement of the state resources. Our correspondent gathered that skirmishes between the protesters and the hoodlums took place shortly after the rally commenced. The march which began at Ayetoro junction, about 9am had earlier witnessed a hitch when some people pelted the protesters with sachet water but the situation was later brought under control. The protesters, led by leaders of CSCEO were joined by members of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners, NUP, in the march that was to terminate at the gate of the state House of Assembly.
