David Beckham reveals heartbreak over son's uncertainty about football future due to pressure

David Beckham has revealed his upset over one of his young sons telling him they're not sure they want to follow in his footsteps because of the pressure.
The 40-year-old, who has Harper, four, Brooklyn, 16, Romeo, 13, and Cruz, 10, with wife Victoria, said he hopes his children follow in his footsteps, but only if it makes them happy.
"I'd love them to play soccer, but I want them to be happy doing it, you know.
"One of my boys turned around to me the other day, he said, 'Daddy, you know, I'm not sure I want to play football all the time...' It broke my heart a little bit.
"He said, 'Every time that I step onto the field, I know people are saying, you know, 'This is David Beckham's son,' and if I'm not as good as you, then it's not good enough.' I said, 'Okay, stop right there... You play because you want to play."
David, who will appear in a short film alongside Harvey Keitel and Cathy Moriarty, added to ABC News: "You play because it makes you happy.'"
While Romeo recently led the England football team out when they took on Switzerland, Brooklyn left the Arsenal Academy earlier this year and during an interview last month said he would like to study photography and art once he finished his A Levels.
David's comments come after Victoria revealed that daughter Harper had no desire to follow her into fashion - but wants to be a footballer.
The designer said that it was a 'dagger through the heart' when the four-year-old recently told her: "Mommy, I think want to play football".
"She loves fashion as all little girls do, she loves putting makeup on and playing with my shoes. She's a tomboy, she has three brothers.
"She said to me the other day: 'Mummy I think I want to play football.' (It was) a dagger through the heart. I have three boys who want to play football, come on, let one of them want to be in fashion."
