Gecko turns into Kermit the Frog in a desperate bid to scare off photographer

The hapless lizard looked a right muppet after student Sam Rowley saw through its camouflage on a tree in Madagascar
Miss Piggy was nowhere to be seen, but a dead ringer for Kermit the Frog has been spotted in the jungle.
The foot-long gecko did a passable impression of the muppet in a bid to scare offBristol University biology student Sam Rowley, 20.
Sam, who took the photo on Nosy Mangabe Island off Madagascar, said: “They are usually only a few metres off the ground on a trunk, making it easier to spot.
“Nosy Mangabe is the best place to see them as there are fewer predatory couas, a large species of bird, present. You need a lot of luck.
“Fortunately, this one didn’t mind our presence - it assumes you can’t see it.
“However when some large birds began calling nearby it got a bit agitated and told me to go away by doing the Kermit the Frog impression.
“I left straight away.”
The nocturnal animals, which feed on insects, have eyesight which incredibly is 350 times more sensitive than ours.
Sam added: “Sadly they are under threat from the illegal pet trade.
“They rest with their head facing down. It means sunlight doesn’t reflect in their eyes and predatory birds don’t see them as easily whilst flying over.
“Also, it’s so that rainwater doesn’t go down their nostrils. They remain still on a tree trunk as long as the sun is above the horizon.
“Camouflage is very common in Madagascar - I also photographed some chameleons using camouflage.”
