Terrifying super-fish reeled in by fisherman from seas near site of Fukushima nuclear accident

This giant fish was pulled out of the ocean near the site of the Fukushima nuclear accident.

The vast fish looks prehistoric with its gaping mouth and vast head.

Japanese fisherman Hirasaka Hiroshi tweeted a photo of himself with his catch saying it was a wolffish.

He wrote: "It was worth flying to [Hokkaido] twice within three months. This guy is super cool."

Wolffish commonly live in the Pacific and Atlantic ocean and as deep sea dwellers they rarely are seen away from the ocean floor.

Normally growing to about 1 metre, Hiroshi's find measured closer to two metres.

Hiroshi said he landed the catch on Hokkaido island - just north of mainland Japan - and near Russian waters.

It is also not far from the site of the 2011 Fukushima nuclear power plant disaster, raising questions about the ecological impact.
